Raktamokshana, or bloodletting, is one of the five purification therapies (Panchakarma) in Ayurveda, aimed at removing impure blood (dushta rakta) from the body to cure various disorders. Ayurveda views the balance of the three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—as essential for health, and an imbalance can lead to the accumulation of toxins, including in the blood.
